Inventor’s Fair Project 2008 • Grade 5

 

The Inventor's Fair Schedule, 2009:

  1. Bullet  Monday, November 2 - Introduction and explanation of project; begin searching online to make sure your idea is unique; begin work! Discuss ideas with your parents and come to school knowing your Invention idea on Tuesday, November 4.


  1. Bullet  Thursday, November 12 - Problem/Solution Log Sheet* due


  1. Bullet  Thursday, November 12 - Unique Solution Log Sheet* due (explanation).


  1. Bullet  Monday, November 23 - Materials & Cost Log Sheet* due.


  1. Bullet  Monday, November 30 - Steps Followed Log Sheet* due. 


  1. Bullet  Tuesday, December 1 - Invention Model due at 8:00 a.m.


  1. Bullet  December 1-4 - Work on posters in science class. Earlier you typed your poster pieces in Computer Class. You may also want to include pictures of you building your invention, so be sure to take the pictures and have them printed beforehand!


  1. Bullet  December 7-10 - Presentation of inventions & posters to the class during class periods (computer and science classes).


  1. Bullet  December 10 - St. Michael Science and Inventor's Fair, 7 PM. Parents and students come to school for about one hour to view all the inventions and the middle school science projects. All parents and students should plan to attend! During the day we will set up our displays during computer class.


*NOTE: Be sure to take good notes as you do your research to make sure your solution/invention is unique. When you start gathering materials you need for your invention, record how much everything costs. Keep a log of the step-by-step procedures you follow as you complete each task for this Inventor's Fair Project. All of this data gathering is part of your Inventor's Fair grade. Work carefully and completely and you will increase the value of your project.
